    Google’s free web-stats tracking

    14 November 2005  Reviews

Google has just released their next “big thing” - Google Analytics. After buying out Urchin Software Corporation a while back, they obviously were planning something, and this is it.

Ive installed it here on my blog, and It says my first report will be ready in 12 hours.

For one thing, the interface is very “unlike” Google. It definitely gives off a more proffessional look and feel than some of Google’s apps. Another thing that looks very interesting is that you are able to track specific pages as well as numerous websites. I havent played around with many web-stats programs, I normally just stick to the default app that comes installed with my webhost, and this I could find pretty useful. But Dreamhost uses Analog stats, which is by far the ugliest way of viewing stats I’ve ever seen. It works well, but the interface makes my measly amount of page hits look even worse. :-)

Anyway, once ive tried out Analytics, Ill give a more detailed review on it.

On a side-note, think for just one second about all the information and statistics Google has about the web in their database. It’s a pretty scary thought…

Update: I’ve been waiting since yesterday for my “first” report. About 24 hours have past, and still no luck… Maybe I’ll see some progress happening tomorrow.
