Website Grader – free SEO report for your site

Posted on 6 February 2008 in Asides | 6 comments |

Website Grader logo I read about this brilliant service that Techcrunch first posted about called Website Grader. Below is a quick description from their site:

Website Grader is a free seo tool that measures the marketing effectiveness of a website. It provides a score that incorporates things like website traffic, SEO, social popularity and other technical factors. It also provides some basic advice on how the website can be improved from a marketing perspective.

This blog received 88/100. This figure is only compared to the sites that they have already graded, and with only 200 000 sites graded so far, I’m sure my score is a little high. ;-( I haven’t actually done any marketing or SEO optimization on this site before, but with the new redesign coming, I will definitely be adding some work to that department of this blog.

As you can see by my report, Website Grader checks for 6 different categories namely,

  1. On-Page SEO – Metadata, Heading Summary, Image Summary, Interior Page Analysis, Readability Level
  2. Off-Page SEO – Domain Info, Google PageRank, Google Indexed Pages, Last Google Crawl Date, Traffic Rank, Inbound Links
  3. Blogosphere – Blog Analysis, Blog Ranking
  4. Social Mediasphere – del.icio.us bookmarks, Digg.com Submission Summary
  5. Converting Qualified Visitors to Leads – RSS Feed, Conversion Form
  6. Competitive Intelligence – Score Summary

As well as analysing your site, it offers suggestions based on the results in each category. For example, it lists all the images on my homepage, as well as which ones did not have have an alt attribute.

Website Grader is definitely one of the more comprehensive free SEO reports on the web. I encourage you to run it and see how how well your site is optimised!

Hey Adam, you can’t actually “get” this software, all you can do is run it for your website from Website Grader. Enter your URL and hit go!

    Hi,

Are you familiar other good tools like Website Grader? I like what Website Grader does, but it does not seem to register any of the improvements I have made since I first used it. So if you can recommend other similar tools that you have had succes with, I’d like to hear about them.

    Thanks in advance.
